General Scope of Responsibility: Managing the Engineering and Technical Team

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. Manage the Engineering / Technical Team
  • Directs Technical Team in achieving timely completion of department projects and objectives including:
    • Develop scope on assigned or initiated projects or tasks. Assign and work with department on projects.  Track progress of assigned tasks.
    • Communicate with appropriate plant and corporate personnel to secure concurrence of the project goals and tasks.
    • Provide leadership, performance feedback input and motivation on projects and performance.
    • Interface with plant personnel to smooth transition of projects into plant.
    • Report on Engineering projects’ progress and issue monthly Engineering project report. Report progress at monthly plant vehicle launch and business meetings.
    • Define and organize activities and solutions from general assignments to look into or investigate problems or solutions.
  • Leads the process engineering activities for new jobs/launches and engineering changes from preplanning and preparation to implementation.
    • Reviews product design to ensure optimal manufacturability, adherence to tolerance guidelines, tool design, machine design, cell layout, compatibility issues, and safety concerns.
    • Leads tooling development and design from prototype through manufacturing production stages.
    • Leads efforts to develop manufacturing equipment for process through either machine upgrades or acquisition of new capital equipment.
    • Leads process development effort through cross-functional teams to develop optimal cell layout, work instructions, process flow layout, and set-up procedures, while adhering to safety, quality, and productivity protocols.
    • Leads cross-functional teams to develop PFMEA’s, mistake/error proofing.
    • Coordinates internal engineering trials for PPAP’s, PSA’s, Run at Rates, etc.
    • Evaluates and takes actions needed to meet or exceed targets set for spoilage, cycle time, and quality.
    • Accomplishes the above tasks through compliance with the plant’s Advanced Planning Quality Procedures.
    • Maintain Records of tooling design/purchase as outlined in Mfg. Capability.
    • Produces part samples to meet customer requirements.
    • Turn jobs over to production that are process capable and have all required equipment and documentation
  • Leads engineering efforts to resolve/improve process problems.
    • Identifies and resolves process improvements leading to better cycle times, reduced spoilage, improved process capability (i.e., Cpk, Ppk), and increased throughput.
    • Develops and employs troubleshooting guidelines.
    • Assists production staff as process expert by utilizing troubleshooting, diagnosis, debugging, and other technical skills to keep production lines running at peak efficiency.
    • Performs cause analysis and corrective action implementation on assigned customer complaints or internal failures.
    • Performs safety analysis and implementation if corrective action.
  • Keeps up to date with industry trends.
  • Assist plant in technical, equipment, facility and process matters as required.
  • Train and develop personnel in the group, maintain technical competence and expand knowledge of technical developments.
  • Upgrade personal knowledge and skill levels through training.
  • Recruits, hires, builds Engineering and/or technical team.
  • Holds team accountable and responsible for discipline, including termination.
  • Owns administration of certain TS/ISO processes.
  • Able to support project decisions and priority resourcing through financial justification.

This is a Supervisory position requiring management and people development skills.  Must be able to interface with production personnel throughout the Corporation.  Must be able to lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams.

Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facilities. General Scope of Responsibility:
To plan, organize, direct, control, and motivate all personnel and operations in the Production Department.

DUTIES & ELEMENTS:
▪ Implement and monitor plant safety standards and practices to ensure a safe workplace.
Monitor and direct safety training
Ensure adherence to MIOSHA safety regulations
Motivate employees to adhere to safe work practices.
Discipline when necessary to insure adherence to plant safety rules and work practices
▪ An eye for quality: Ensure that product quality is maintained and that all operations are carried out in a controlled,
consistent manner using documented policies and procedures. Maintain IATF 16949, ISO14001 systems. Conduct
Layered Process Audits.
▪ Supply information needed for quoting process in a timely manner.
▪ Direct plant Lean/ Continuous Improvement activities: Act as plant Lean Champion.
Establish continuous improvement goals for cost reductions, systems, products, and processes.
▪ Manage manpower requirements for the operation.
▪ Manage inventory control of production department.
– From customer releases to finished goods levels.
– Oversee scheduled materials to generate production requirements.
– Monitor and coordinates schedules for model changes, year-end shut downs, build outs, etc.
• Supervises production staff including Production Supervision, Maintenance Mgr, and hourly workforce.
▪ Produce products to requirements on-time.
– Ensure that parts are produced at standard.
– Ensure specified materials are used.
– Develop, execute and maintain an effective plant Preventive Maintenance plan.
▪ Assure cost effective operations on shop floor.
Monitors
and analyzes machine performance, labor variances, material usage, departmental overhead, spoilage
and inventory adjustments.

Human relations: The Operations Manager directs and supervises the department personnel in the performance of all production activities and must, therefore, have excellent interpersonal skills to lead the workforce. The Operations Manager must communicate well with all levels of management and production personnel. Supports the customer with quality product delivered in a timely manner. Maintaining relations is one of the critical aspects of operations management. It requires crisp communication skills to ensure that there is proper flow of information between various departments and dealing with union issues.

Physical Requirements for the position: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, squat, kneel, crouch and talk or hear. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Physical ability to lift and carry objects weighting up to 50 pounds with assistance.

General Scope of Responsibility:  Manages the engineering planning & preparation activities necessary to launch assigned new jobs and engineering changes at rate and 100% quality.  Also, has engineering responsibility for resolving process problems and improving plant safety, quality, and productivity on assigned programs/processes.

DUTIES & ELEMENTS:

Executes the RVP process engineering activities

  • Develops, optimizes, documents and updates process work instructions and set-up procedures as required.
  • Develops and updates tooling specifications and best practices for plant processes.
  • Reviews new and existing product design to ensure optimal manufacturability, adherence to tolerance guidelines, functionality, tool design, machine design, cell layout, and safety and ergonomic concerns.
  • Leads process development effort through cross-functional teams to develop optimal cell layout and process flow layout while adhering to safety, quality, and productivity protocols.
  • Develops, documents and employs process troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Demonstrates compliance to department IATF 16949: 2016 procedures.
  • Participate in the TFC process to assist in determining optimum processes, tooling, and material requirements for customer quotes.
  • Apply Lean manufacturing principles (e.g. 5S, value stream mapping, SMED, standardized work methods, etc.) to improve assigned processes.

Leads RVP Engineering efforts to resolve/improve process opportunities:

  • Identifies and resolves process improvements leading to better cycle times, reduced spoilage, improved process capability (i.e. Cpk, Ppk), and increased throughput.

  • Leads cross-functional teams to develop PFMEA’s, mistake/error proofing.
  • Leads and/or assists with tooling design and development from prototype through manufacturing production stages as required by Program Manager.
  • Review product design with respect to materials, quality, function and manufacturability.
  • Prototype and pre-launch production runs
  • Train operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to run new processes and equipment.
  • Ensure products meet quoted cycle time, material usage, and operator requirements.
  • Coordinates PPAP, PSA’s, Run at Rates runs with plant personnel to ensure a capable product.

  • Five or more years relevant work experience in manufacturing involving automation applications.
  • Experience interpreting or using CAD/CAM drawings and systems.
  • A working knowledge of plant processes.
  • The ability to perform Failure Model and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE’s).
  • A thorough knowledge of automotive policies and procedures, with emphasis on manufacturing planning, quality planning, statistical methods and problem solving.
  • A demonstrated ability to plan and organize.
  • The ability to reach closure on assigned tasks within suspense dates.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Fanuc Robots

Physical requirements:

  • Occasionally ascends/descends ladders or stairs on manufacturing equipment to assist with trial runs. Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds across plant floor when assisting in tool launch process. Must be able to walk through the manufacturing plant and stand for long periods of time. Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.

HUMAN RELATIONS:

Process Engineers work closely with, and often serve as support to, a number of different departments and personnel. As a result, and in order to achieve optimum effectiveness, they must maintain a positive, cooperative relationship with these various departments/individuals.  They must also be responsive to their needs.

Process Engineers interact with all levels of the organization, i.e., with operators through senior managers.  To be effective, they must be sensitive to, and cooperatively blend the needs and goals of these various levels with the common denominator of “achieving organizational objectives” (i.e., effective launches, safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, and positive employee/ employer relations).

Finally, in the role of a problem solver, Process Engineers must remain objective and be able to make recommendations based on facts, regardless of whether those recommendations are popular.

General Scope of Responsibility:

To develop sales plans and strategy to grow the business in new and existing product lines at assigned accounts.  To achieve all sales targets and outcomes developed by the Executive Staff.  To direct all sales related activities internal, and external personnel and contacts for assigned accounts.

DUTIES AND ELEMENTS:

Secure replacement and new business in automotive market niche identified in strategic plans.

  • Identify and develop new opportunities focused on customer needs.
  • To meet or exceed the sales plan at margins required and meet diversification objectives identified in strategic planning.
  • Direct, monitor, and report on progress for activities to secure business.
  • Actively participate in the quotation process to ensure competitive quotes, and delivered in a timely manner

Expand CPAC’s market share at the OEMs & Tiers by developing new program opportunities using our “New Products” portfolio of technologies..

  • Promote Cadillac Products and our capabilities to assigned customers, in compliance with high professional and ethical business standards
  • Work in conjunction with Marketing and Product Development on product applications utilizing CPAC’s new technology base.
  • Develop solutions that will meet the customer’s needs.

Lead annual activities to increase sales.

  • Prepare annual sales forecasts for strategic planning for assigned accounts.
  • Focus on market development/ new products to secure future business in niche.
  • Identify key customer contacts and establish personal rapport along with sales rep’s to establish good personal relationships.
  • Expand automotive account margins for all booked business.
  • Develop policies and procedures, criteria and controls for the measurement of sales performance against goals and objectives
  • Establish good personal relationships with key individual customer contacts.
  • Identify new technology that could threaten existing business or Cadillac Products.
  • Service existing business through frequent customer contact, and have a thorough knowledge of customer and competitive trends in the marketplace.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the systems and procedures for both Cadillac Products and your assigned customers.
  • Make certain that our organization has all the information required to design, develop and manufacture new and existing business.
  • Be in control and aware of all communication with the customer’s purchasing, engineering and plant functions.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and navigate tight spaces. Physical ability to lift and carry objects weighting up to 30 pounds with assistance.  There will be occasions that the employee will be required to drive long distances (4 – 6 hours or more) to get to our facilities or to visit a supplier or customer.

General Scope of Responsibility: Coordinate shipping and receiving functions and transactions.

SPECIFIC DUTIES: SHIPPING CLERK

  • Receive shipping schedule from automotive releases.
  • Create and provide product pull list to assist warehouse personnel in pulling, staging and separating products by customer and truck line/customer.
  • Coordinate pickup and delivery times of daily shipments with truck lines. Both Customer & CPAC Contacted Logistics company.
  • Prepare shipping labels with required information: date, part number, ship to code, and carrier.  If required by some customers, release number and purchase order.
  • Perform Splits or Merges of containers as needed in the Plex ERP system.
  • Enter individual shipment information in customers logistics portals as required. (Scheider, Penske, Paccar, DTNA ect…)
  • Enter individual shipment information to generate packing list, Bill of Lading, and shipper being watchful of important items for certain customers: deliver dates, attaching packing list to pallet, purchase order number, release number, ship to address if different than plant destination in the Plex ERP System.
  • Assemble, prepare, and attach all documents necessary for proper shipment of finished goods.
  • Customs Invoice
  • Conformance Certification
  • Copy of shipper attached to pallet for certain customers.
  • Cross-reference pallet tickets with shipping list to be certain all parts are shipped without error: Check destination code (written by shipping attendant), part number and quantities.
  • Manage emergency shipments – call-expediting services to set up pick up time and expected delivery time of material to customer.
  • Ship indicate bills of lading as soon as material is signed for by truck driver to transmit ASN immediately to customer. Use alternate backup ASN system if Plex is down or cannot be connected too.
  • Monitor Customer Systems and Checks (Ford, GM, Stellantis, ect..)
  • File all shippers and bills of lading.
  • Verify and receive in Raw materials & MRO Items Shipments, Label containers as required by Plex for the products being received Communicate with management team requirements ahead of time when reinspection/rework of products is being conducted so that the correct amount of product is ready when needed.
  • Follow Customer Required Routing Guides & transportation requirements, insuring cost penalties are not incurred.
  • Maintain Customer Container Fleet information and Receipts in the respective customer container portal.
  • Maintain and update the Plex container fleet receipts in our Plex system.
  • Prepare & Package Service Part Shipment parts as needed.
  • Dispute Customer Shipping Violations as required.

Communicate shipping concerns to appropriate personnel

  • Inform production control personnel of parts not in inventory.
  • Work with floor supervisors to eliminate part shortages.

Miscellaneous Activities

  • Gather and input information for memo shippers on material to be shipped by truck line.
  • Contact expediter for MRO material pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Direct activities of Hilo drivers on the dock.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Work Experience, etc.):

  • High School Diploma.

  • Work overtime, weekends, holiday’s when required.
  • Excellent communications skills.

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a shipping and receiving operation, preferably in an auto environment.

The Automotive Shipping Clerk works well with management staff and hourly personnel; maintains effective communications with company personnel, vendors, customers and truck line personnel; and maintains a helpful attitude in performing shipping duties. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms. The employee will push, pull, lift and/or move up 40 pounds. Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization’s physical premises. Environmental conditions include noisy environments with occasional varying temperatures

General Scope of Responsibilities:

  • The operator is responsible for running of the machine in a safe and productive manner.
  • They are also responsible for ensuring the quality of the product and performing necessary quality checks.
  • The operator must package the finished product and accurately record all information.
  • The operator must be willing to be part of a team environment by helping others in the performance of their duties.

Essential Functions:

  • Follow all plant work and safety rules.
  • Ensure the product meets or exceeds customer and internal specifications.
  • Perform all necessary quality control testing and record all data, accurately, as required.
  • Package product in boxes or returnable containers/racks and accurately record all information on all necessary paperwork.
  • Fill out product identification labels and make cartons.
  • Continuously inspect product for defects.
  • Work rotating work schedule and overtime as assigned.
  • Perform necessary housekeeping in work area.

Peripheral Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Attend all required meetings.
  • Report all unsafe conditions.
  • Participate on assigned project/improvement teams.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned and necessary.

Work Environment:

  • This is a typical industrial environment utilizing moderately heavy equipment.
  • The work environment at times can be dirty, hot, cold, dusty, noisy (85 DBS), and greasy, but is generally thought to be good.
  • Workers may be exposed to hazards such as overhead hoists, stationary blades, utility knives, pinch points, lifting, extreme heat, hazardous chemicals, forklift traffic, high voltage, repetitive tasks, moving machine parts, fumes and heights.
  • High degree of care necessary as serious injury may result.
